Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla brands Ramaphosa ‘Mampara of the Week’

She’s one to talk: Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has never been shy about her disdain for President Cyril Ramaphosa, one of her father’s political adversaries. Like his predecessor Jacob Zuma, Ramaphosa has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons – he has just been asked to explain eyebrow-raising comments he made in a leaked audio recording.

In the clip, Ramaphosa seemingly admits to knowing about public funds being used for the ANC’s leadership campaigns and can be heard saying he would rather fall on his sword over donations to his 2017 campaign for the ANC presidency – than have the public find out about the former.

Well, Zuma-Sambudla is presumably relishing in the fact that daddy dearest hasn’t featured prominently in any news articles lately and that all eyes are on President Cyril Ramaphosa. She took to Twitter on Wednesday evening, 25 January 2022 and referred to Ramaphosa as ‘Mampara of the Week.’

‘Mampara of the Week’ is a popular feature on TimesLive, which names and shames a well-known person who dominated the news cycle that particular week for all the wrong reasons. From politicians, to television stars and athletes – nobody is exempt from being crowned for their utter stupidity or whatever else comes into question.

Jacob Zuma, Tokyo Sexwale, Gwede Mantasha, Andre De Ruiter, Gareth Cliff and even Zuma-Sambudla herself have all been named ‘Mampara of the Week’ by the publication in the past few months.

Zuma-Sambudla’s tweet will likely be appreciated by Ramaphosa’s detractors, including those in the ANC. But very few of them would be willing to express themselves in the open and once again bring factional battles within the party into the public domain.
