The Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef didn’t just include rappers and producers picking sides, but also media members. DJ Akademiks recently called out Ebro Darden for calling the Toronto superstar a “sickness,” and the Apple Music host dropped some slander for the controversial personality as well.
“These media ni**as sound like hurt h*es,” Ak wrote on X on Wednesday (Feb. 19). “Ni**as calling Drake a sickness… ni**as acting like drake [f**ked their h*e]… half of these ni**as just wanted a interview. its okay.. get the f**k over it. play ur game that these artists dont have to give u nun and u still win.”
The Hot 97 host quoted him and wrote, “This goofy drunk and sick too. Pills, h*es and fast food. He will get it together one day, but …. We have all been lost in this game at some point.” One X user replied to Ebro’s tweet and said, “I can’t stand that goofy drunk, but he’s not lying about what he said. Y’all be hurt and straight bandwagoners when it’s time to bully and ‘end’ the ones on top.” Ebro kept his reply short and sweet: “Seriously not bothered.”
This all began the week after Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX performance, which was critiqued by many for being too focused on Drake and their beef. “Drake is not that important. The reason Drake’s in this is because he is a sickness in the game,” Ebro said before making a similar suggestion to Drake as K. Dot did on “Meet The Grahams” in May 2024.
“It could have been any artist, but it’s what Drake represents. People love Drake – they love his music, we love his music. He’s beloved. He’s not willing to go rip his soul from the bottom and do ayahuasca and look himself in the mirror as Kendrick had prescribed to him. It’s about what the game does to artists who try to dominate it.”
Drizzy flipped the ayahuasca line into a meme on his burner Instagram account, posting a pot of ayahuasca with transparent photos of Ebro’s head floating around it. The radio personality commented on the photo with laughing emojis and wrote, “Will get ya mind and body right.”
