Eminem is no stranger to the big screen, and he may have picked one of the best and biggest upcoming releases to make his return. The 52-year-old recently appeared in the Happy Gilmore 2 trailer and hilariously clowns Adam Sandler.
Slim Shady’s appearance, around the 1:45-minute mark, is a quick one. He can be seen wearing a hat and a wig, calling Sandler’s character a “jacka**” while they’re on the golf course. The Detroit rapper joins a star-studded cast that includes Bad Bunny, Post Malone, Travis Kelce, Ben Stiller, and cameo appearances from Stephen A. Smith and Cam’ron, among others. The film is out on July 25th via Netflix.
“Eminem was cool. He came by and he was great,” Sandler said on the Dan Patrick Show this past December. “He came and was funny as hell. I think we just hung out a day with Eminem. He just shot and shot and it was insane. [He] said a million things that we can use and a million things that we’re glad we have them on tape.” Watch the trailer below.
Happy Gilmore 2 is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic 1996 film Happy Gilmore. Eminem can now add this to his filmography, which already boasts another Adam Sandler-led film in Funny People, his breakthrough classic 8 Mile, plus The Interview and The Wash. While the 15-time Grammy winner is making moves on the cinema front, he is also seeking a large payout from Meta.
E! News reported that the “Lose Yourself” rapper is suing the company, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, for alleged copyright infringement. He and his legal team claim that they violated the copyright of 243 songs within the Detroit rapper’s catalog via “unauthorized storage, reproduction and exploitation.”
They specifically cited the Original Audio and Reels features, where users can add music to their posts, but called it stealing because the music was utilized without permission. Eminem and his legal team are seeking around $109 million in damages, broken down into $150,000 per song.
