Speaking to Hype Magazine’s LilytheHost, the rapper opened up about his plans following the victory and the motivation fueling his next moves. “More visuals, I’m dropping two projects this year, another one the following year,” Emtee revealed with a sense of focus and clarity.

So like now I’m just locking in, applying pressure and soaking in all the inspiration—everything that’s motivating me to even go harder.” He added, “I’m just going twice as hard as I did last year and just applying twice as much pressure.”

DIY 3 marked a pivotal moment in Emtee’s career, serving not just as a musical statement but as a reminder of his staying power in South African hip hop. Released amid speculation and pressure, the project silenced critics and reestablished him as one of the most consistent voices in the game. Now, with an award to validate the quality of the work, Emtee sees the recognition as proof that patience and perseverance pay off.

To the next generation of artists hoping to walk in his footsteps, Emtee offered a heartfelt message. “Take your time with everything, better late than never,” he advised. “I hope this (Metro Award) is also a lesson to everybody because if you think about it, prior to me dropping the album, there was a lot of talk, there was a lot of pressure. But here we are today. I hope this is a lesson—it’s never too late.”

With two new projects on the horizon for 2025, Emtee is more determined than ever. And as he soaks in the win, he remains focused on the grind, charting a path that proves that resilience, passion, and timing can all align when the music is honest.
