Ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder headlines Maritzburg United new signings

Maritzburg United have bolstered their squad with no fewer than FIVE new signings as they look to do better when the season resumes.

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lucky Baloyi headlines the list of new signings after spending the past few weeks with the Team of Choice.

Baloyi joins Maritzburg United following a rather unsuccessful spell with Royal AM but he comes in highly rated given his experience in the PSL.

Baloyi signed alongside Tawande Macheke (Zimbabwe), Friday Samu (Zambia), Genino Palace (South Africa) and Steven Pereira (Cape Verde)

Macheke arrives from Zimbabwean side Black Rhinos while Palace was previously on the books of Portuguese outfits Braga U23 and Academica among others.

On the other hand, Pereira previously plied his trade in the Netherlands with PEC Zwolle and MVV Maastricht before moving to Portugal.

Samu was on the books of Green Buffaloes in Zambia before being recruited by Maritzburg United.

MARITZBURG UNITED NEEEDED TO REPLACE BONGOKUHLE HLONGWANE

Maritzburg United needed to plug the gap left by Bongokuhle Hlongwane who was recently sold to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Minnesota United.

The departure of Ali Meza also meant Maritzburg United were very thin upfront, and for that reason, they added Samu and Macheke to the roster.

Samu, in particular, is a proven goalscorer who joins Maritzburg United on the back of scoring 15 goals in 18 games for Buffaloes this season.
