The Hi-Life Fest 2018 talent hunt show, which began few months ago has ended on a winning note as a total of nine winners emerged from the two categories of Igbo highlife music and cultural dance, and all the winners presented with cash prize totaling N6,[tooltip id=”4500c2f113202943ff1ae30d00c9d4ac”] [/tooltip]600,000.
Dons Ifeanyi, a musician from Anambra State emerged winner in the highlife category and was presented with a cheque of N2 million, whilst also decorated as the Hi-Life fest 2018 King.[tooltip id=”4500c2f113202943ff1ae30d00c9d4ac”] [/tooltip]
The winner in the cultural dance category, Umuchiziri Dance Group had their leader, Chuzzy Anene presented with N2 million and equally decorated as Life Royalty dance group, amidst wild jubilation by the team members.
While Chuks Arthur Uwazie, from Owerri as 1st runner-up in the highlife music category was presented with a cheque of N500,000, Kalapi Ojuka, who came third, got N400,000 even as Obiajulu Adachi and Agbom Emanuel walked away with N300,000 and N200,000 as 4th and 5th place respectively.
In the cultural dance category, Port-Harcourt based Kanaowo Cultural Dance Group, received a cheque of N500,000 as 1st runner-up, while Asinodrick Cultural dance Group, went home with N400,000, third place winner.
Ifeanyi, earlier in an interview before the winners were announced, had expressed confidence about winning the competition, stating that his trust was in God and hope to win. He added that if indeed he wins, he would be able to build a career from there.
“I put my trust in God and I know He will do it. I am going to win. From here, I know I am going to become Hilife Fest King by God’s grace, and when that happens, I will establish my musical career with the prize money. I will be eternally grateful to Nigeria Breweries if that happens,” he had said.
Expressing his joy afterwards, when his name was announced as winner in the highlife music category, Ifeanyi said he is filled with gratitude to God, and commended Life Continental for putting the competition together. He pledged that the brand will not regret picking him as its HiLife Fest King.
Sharing they intend to spend their respective winning money, most of the winners said they would plough the money back into their trade, which is singing and drumming by getting more instruments to better their singing careers.
Arthur explained that what he hopes to do with the money is confidential, but he will not fail to commend Nigeria Breweries for coming up with such a wonderful competition that has come to give young, up and coming musicians hope for the future.

This is because Nigeria Breweries is the only company I have ever seen in all my life that wants to elevate indigenous young, up and coming musicians. They are so unique.”
“As we know, there are so many talented musicians out there but nobody is really ready to help them. I appreciate Life Continental Beer for organizing this HiLife Fest talent hunt show,” he added.
The music talent hunt started March 18 with over 700 contestants, who registered and were screened across South East cities, including, Aba, Onitsha, Owerri, Nsukka, Abakaliki, Port-Harcourt, and Asaba.
