Around 26 families from Durban‘s Kennedy Road informal settlement are still without shelter following a shack fire three weeks ago. The residents lost everything.

Those affected have been sleeping outside ever since and have received no help from government.

The municipality says because of the civil unrest in July, it hasn’t been able to reach out and help this community.

But it says it’s appointed a service provider who will visit the area and provide residents with new building material by Monday.
