Beyoncé’s highly-anticipated Cowboy Carter Tour kicked off with timeless hits, unforgettable family moments, and all the world-class entertainment that only Bey can bring. The opening night on April 28 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, however, quickly took a wild turn when fans in the VIP section started throwing punches like they weren’t in the presence of a Queen.
Video footage captured the chaos, showing a group of women — decked out in their best western getups — arguing, before things escalated into a full-blown brawl. One woman tackled another to the floor, as the group of cowgirls went from vibing to fighting, slipping around in their cowboy boots, hats and all.
Fortunately, a male attendee stepped in to break things up. See below.
As of now, neither Beyoncé nor her team have commented on the incident, but the brawl surely made its rounds on social media.
“Too old and too big for all of that. The one with the denim and blonde braids wanted attention so bad. She looks about 40,” one person responded to the video on X. “It’s giving boots to the ground literally,” said another.
A third person wrote, “Too embarrassing for my black humble complexion. Black women fighting in public makes me cry,” as another added, “What can possibly lead to this when everyone is there just to have a good time. People need therapy.”
As for the show itself, it’s clear that the Cowboy Carter tour is all about the new element Beyoncé is embracing. The opening night was filled with songs from her latest country-inspired album, a few Renaissance bangers and even fewer hits from her earlier years. But what really took the cake was a surprise appearance of Rumi Carter, the youngest daughter of Beyoncé and JAY-Z.
The seven-year-old made her stage debut alongside her big sister Blue Ivy, dazzling the crowd in a sparkly gold feather dress and matching cowboy boots. Rumi, who lent her vocals to the track “Protector” on Beyoncé’s latest album, shone brightly as she joined her mom and sister on stage for the song, even striking a fierce “protector” pose.
The heartwarming moment was pure magic as Rumi happily waved at the crowd and embraced her mom, before being led off stage by her older sister.
As the unfortunate brawl may have occurred, it still didn’t steal the light that the show’s precious moments brought.
