Flau’jae Johnson has confirmed that she and Angel Reese have ended their friendship.
The 21-year-old made the shocking admission during an appearance on The Breakfast Club on Monday (June 9).
“We’re not friends, but I mean, like, that bond that we had, and that thing we did together, win the national championship, you can never take that away from us,” Johnson explained.
While at Louisiana State University, Johnson and Reese defeated Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes to secure the 2023 NCAA championship. The two appeared to be close friends on and off the court, but Johnson noted that “stuff” happened between them.
“It was a lot of media, it was a lot of locker room stuff, you know what I’m saying?,” she explained. “You know, sometimes, like, stuff happens, you wish it don’t happen, but it do and you just gotta grow.”
Despite their fallout, Johnson is still supportive of Reese, who now plays for the Chicago Sky. “I support her in everything she do,” said Johnson, praising Reese for “killing it in the WNBA.”

Johnson even defended Reese following criticism online.
“I be on social media clowning the folks that be trying to talk down on her,” the LSU guard expressed. “I’m just proud of her, but like, you know, stuff happens.”
Fans began speculating about the strain on their friendship after their mothers, Angel Webb Reese and Kia Brooks, got into a spat on X.
In November 2023, Outkick reported that Webb criticized Johnson’s grammar causing Brooks to fire back on Instagram. “You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0-or-less grade point average. Stop being petty, fake and hateful, and take responsibility for you and your daughter’s actions,” she wrote.
Reese took to X, urging fans, “Please don’t believe everything you read.”
