Samsung is busy with the imminent release of the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. The new smartphones will be revealed in the next month at the Galaxy Unpacked event. This year, the company will not bring Galaxy Note smartphones and is hoping that the new foldable smartphones will be enough to make the event compelling. The Galaxy Z Fold3 will follow the tablet-like formula of this lineup, while the Galaxy Z Flip3 will be a device with the flip clamshell-like form factor.

Previously, leaks have been suggesting that the Galaxy Z Flip3 charging technology would be really lackluster. Think about a premium smartphone that costs more than $1,000 and has only 15W charging? This is too few in an era when smartphone companies are starting to play beyond the 100W range. Moreover, mid-range smartphones are offering 30W, 65W fast-charging. Samsung really is a company that lags behind the competition in terms of fast-charging technology. However, 15W for a flagship of this importance seemed like a joke. Apparently, things will be better than previously expected, but not so better.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 will charge with 25W charging

According to the report, the Galaxy Z Flip3 was found on the 3C certification website with support for 25W fast-charging. This is contrary to previous reports suggesting 15. Although 25W charging is not so fast anymore, especially with mid-range smartphones having 30W charging, it still is much better than the 15W charging. After all, 15W charging is offered by many of the entry-level smartphones in the market. The Galaxy Z Flip3 is anything but an entry-level device.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 was previously spotted on the SafetyKorea certification website. The listing suggests a 2,300 mAh battery which is simply too small. Reports are suggesting a 3,300 mAh battery which feels more adequate. The device will have a punch-hole 6.7-inch display with Full HD+ resolution. It will also have an outer display bigger than its predecessor. It serves for reading notifications and other related features. In terms of cameras, the device has a 12 MP + 12 MP camera setup. Under the hood, the device may come with the Snapdragon 888 SoC and at least 8 GB of RAM.

The Galaxy Z Flip3 sounds less compelling, but it is also cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold3. The Fold3 will have a bigger battery and also more cutting-edge technologies like an under-display camera for the inner panel. Apparently, there are still too many challenges that prevent a clamshell-like smartphone from having a big battery.
