Meet GraffiArts: a Joburg-based R&B singer-songwriter, whose latest project, Whose Brian sees him wearing his heart on his sleeve.
A testament to love, loss, and hope, the project touches on R&B and trap soul, with much of it following trends set by artists like Bryson Tiller and Partynextdoor. GraffiArts seeks to put his spin on an already successful formula. He wrote the album solo and roped in numerous producers when it came to production.
“She Knows” sees the merging of rap and R&B in a manner that carries over the theme of challenges in relationships. “I love you like Mr. Miyagi loves kung-fu/ mask on mask off, you ain’t gotta pretend,” laments the singer of his lost love. Softer moments are displayed in the project on, “Where You Go” and “Not Okay”.
“Your Love” personifies some of the heartbreak that carries this album. “All I ever wanted was for you and me to be,” he croons. In places, Whose Brian seems flat but the overall theme of love and its challenges are carried very well and help to create a complete picture from start to finish.

The project is a valiant effort. GraffiArts is honest in his exploration of what love means to him and in contemplating a lost love. He does well in filling in the gaps – and where certain aspects fall short on this project, catchy choruses lift it at the edges as does the incorporation of a theme every listener can relate to.
