IFani Subtly Responds To Whether He Will Work With Amapiano Artists. In a characteristically offbeat and entertaining appearance on the Turn Minutes With podcast, South Africa’s ever-colourful rap maverick, IFani offered a hilariously heartfelt take on the Amapiano wave—and whether he’s ready to ride it.

While some artists shy away from genre debates, iFani leaned in with his trademark wit, turning a simple question into a philosophical detour peppered with wisdom, laughter, and one very unexpected parenting metaphor.

When asked if he’d ever team up with an Amapiano artist, iFani didn’t give a straight “yes” or “no.” Instead, he invoked the memory of the late, great AKA, drawing a cheeky yet insightful parallel.

“Our GOAT, AKA, once said, ‘We will never do Amapiano—never, never.’ And then? Gold and platinum with an Amapiano song,” iFani said, flashing that unmistakable grin. “Music is music. At first, we resist it because it’s new. But when it settles, we embrace it.”

And then came the curveball.

“Same thing with pregnancy,” he added. “When your daughter says she’s pregnant, you’re like, ‘Hai, why?!’ But when that baby is born? Love overload. You can’t stay mad. Music is like that baby.”

Studio laughter ensued, but beneath the punchline lay a sharp observation: resistance to new genres is often more emotional than logical. And much like AKA—who once vowed never to touch Amapiano, only to later craft a hit within it—iFani seems to recognize that artistic evolution is inevitable.

While he didn’t confirm any Amapiano collaborations just yet, his message was crystal clear: he’s not shutting the door. In fact, he’s probably peeking through the keyhole, smiling, and waiting for the right beat to knock.
