Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has shared her thoughts on the double standards that often exist in relationships, particularly when it comes to infidelity.

In a recent post on her Instagram page, Rita Edochie argued that society tends to treat men and women differently when it comes to cheating, with men often being excused or even celebrated for their infidelity, while women are judged and criticized.

Rita Edochie emphasized that cheating is cheating, regardless of gender, and that the same rules should apply to both men and women.

She advocated for a culture of accountability, where individuals who cheat face consequences for their actions, rather than being enabled or excused.

She wrote:

When a man cheats, they say it’s a man’s world and expect you to applaud him, but if a woman cheats, the man must send you packing.

If the man allows you to stay, you must be in hell staying with him. I swear this life has no balance.

We live in a society filled with hypocrisy and inequality in gender rights.

Why is it that when a man cheats, he’s often met with a pat on the back and a ‘boys will be boys’ attitude? But when a woman cheats, she is shamed, judged, and often sent packing by her partner. Is this really the kind of society we want to live in, where double standards and hypocrisy reign supreme?

Cheating is cheating, regardless of gender! It’s time we stopped making excuses for those who break the trust and started promoting accountability and respect in all relationships. The same rules should apply to both mën and women. If you cheat, you should face the consequences.

But instead of fostering a culture of accountability, we often enable and excuse the behavior of those who cheat. We need to change this narrative and start valuing honesty, loyalty, and respect in our relationships.

Let’s stop the hypocrisy and start demanding better from ourselves and those around us.

In as much as I encourage the submissiveness of a woman to her man but cases of spousal infidelity must be judged and handled with equality. Mën and women are admirable creatures of God Almighty. No one is inferior to the other. Even the Oyibo wey una dey copy know this and dey careful”.
