The iPhone 15 series is expected to be another major design adjustment for Apple. In addition to switching to the USB Type-C port, the edges will become more rounded. Also, there are reports that all iPhone 15 models will get the Smart Island function.

1. Round Edges
According to reports, the glass panel on the rear of the iPhone 15 series will use a round design. It will be visibly different from the flat design in the current iPhones. There are already some renders of this device showing the round rear. This will not be the first iPhone to use a round rear, the iPhone 15 should be reminiscent of the iPhone 5C. Of course, it will not use the plastic design of the iPhone 5C. Apparently, the focus here is primarily on the design of the cases in the current MacBook models based on the M1 and M2 SoCs.

3. All models to support Smart Island

6. 3nm chip
The iPhone 15 series may also be the first mobile phone in the world to use a 3nm chip. According to industry sources, chips that uses the 3nm process will not launch until the second half of next year. This is just in time before the official release of the iPhone 15 series. Apple will then likely be the first vendor to boast of building next-gen chips into its devices.

The American multinational company has an exclusive deal with Taiwanese chip maker, TSMC. TSMC is ahead and set to pip Samsung to launch the 3nm manufacturing process. The Apple Bionic chips in iPads, iPhones and even PCs are all manufactured by TSMC. Qualcomm and MediaTek are also partners of TSMC. Their flagship chips will probably also use TSMC’s 3nm process. However, Apple will come first while they will follow later.
