Super Bowl LIX is on the way. The opening night went down on Monday (Feb. 3) as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs descended upon New Orleans for an extensive week in front of the media. But unlike other teams who have been caught up in the spectacle of the NFL‘s wildest party, these two squads are treating the moment like they’ve been there before—because they have.
Patrick Mahomes has led the AFC West to five SB appearances since becoming the starting quarterback in 2018. On the other hand, Jalen Hurts has been to two Super Bowls with his NFC East team, with both against the No. 15 and the Chiefs. So, instead of a magical “Disney-esque” moment, the opening night seemed to be just business as usual for the competing teams.
“It starts with coach Reid,” Mahomes said when asked about the Chief’s potential to three-peat and the nonchalant vibes of the moment, per ESPN. “The culture that he’s built, we know it’s a day-by-day process. It’s awesome to be in the Super Bowl but we have to go put in the work every single day first. And I’m glad we’re here.” From Jalen Hurts to Patrick Mahomes, take a look at both teams from Super Bowl LIX’s Opening Night.
