A lawsuit claiming that JAY-Z raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000 has been legally dismissed.
Variety confirms that the report filed by Tony Buzbee back in December 2024 accusing both Jay and Diddy of sexual assault was “voluntarily dismissed with prejudice” on Friday (Feb. 14), meaning that the refiling can’t be refiled as is. All parties involved agreed to the ruling, but it should be noted that the outspoken attorney has yet to release a statement regarding the decision. Still, JAY-Z and Roc Nation issued a statement about their “victory,” with the rapper bringing forth new harrowing details that he and his family faced after the lawsuit was initially filed.
The Roc Nation boss recalled the “trauma” that his family faced and the constant “death threats” flung at them, saying, “The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”
“This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions,” Shawn Carter’s statement continued. “The system has failed. The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”
Per Meghann Cuniff, Jay’s lawyer Alex Spiro also released a statement speaking to the emcee’s resilience. “By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can—he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name,” Spiro typed.
Jay and Alex didn’t even wait until the ink was dry before returning the favor and filing a defamation lawsuit against Buzbee. Baller Alert reports that Hov has sued the Houston-based lawyer for defamation, civil extortion, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
As for Diddy, he is still facing a plethora of other lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, trafficking, and more. Sean Combs is currently behind bars as he awaits his trial on May 5, 2025.
