R. Kelly‘s girlfriend Joycelyn Savage, 29, has shared a video response to her family — and the general public — on where she stands with the artist following her parents’ request to have the crooner’s pardon petition rejected.
In the video shared with TMZ, Savage stated, “I am not a victim.” She confirmed that she’s been in a relationship with Kelly for a decade, despite him being imprisoned for the last six years.
“I have seen him every weekend for the past six years,” Savage stated. She later admitted that she proposed to him three years ago and he said yes. The two reportedly “plan on getting married and having a family,” with Savage adding, “I’m very excited about that.”
She then addressed her family’s concerns. “Please don’t believe the lies my mother and father are coming out here saying about me and Robert. I am not held against my will. I am not a sex slave. I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me,” Savage expressed.
When speaking on her fiancé, she continued, “I just want Robert to get the righteous justice he deserves because he deserves to be free. Enough is enough. I’m tired and he’s tired as well. So, I just want you guys to continue to please pray for him […] I believe that he will be out soon. I have hope.”
Savage claimed that she’s chosen not to speak with her parents because she doesn’t want to. “I have a cellphone and I choose not to call them. I’m a grown woman and if I decide not to call them, that’s my choice. It is what it is. I’m happy where I’m at. I’m in love and I’m good,” she stated.
Parents Jonjelyn and Timothy, on the other hand, believe Joycelyn’s video response is AI-generated. After not seeing her in six years, they stated that the footage “raised some concerns.”
They believe that some of Joycelyn’s mannerisms and even her voice didn’t match. “It confirms why we’ve been fighting so hard just to make sure she’s fine,” said Jonjelyn.
Timothy added that they’ve filed a missing person’s report twice and shared, “We really need to find [out] what’s happening with our daughter.”
They concluded their statement by sharing that they “hope to get closure” regarding their estranged relationship with Joycelyn sooner than later.
