Joyner Lucas has expressed his interest in competing in the Ultimate Rap League’s battle circuit and already has his sights set on trading bars against another Hip-Hop star.
On Tuesday (Jan. 21), the Massachusetts native took to social media to reveal his recurring desire to test his skills by joining the URL, widely regarded as the premier battle rap league in Hip-Hop.
“Sometimes I low-key feel like I wanna get in the URL battle rap ring,” Lucas wrote in a post on X, a declaration that was well-received among his followers.

In a subsequent post, the hitmaker reached out to the Ultimate Rap League, tagging its account on the platform. Lucas requested that he be pitted against a competitor with a similar level of experience for a single round, but remains open to lyrically sparring with elite battle rappers in the future.
“Let me do just 1 round at first so I can get my feet wet,” Joyner began, adding that he’d love to go bar-for-bar against another commercially successful rap artist for his first match.
“I low key wish i can go against one of my peers tho. Someone who ain’t seasoned in the ring already but lyrically fit. But…… on the other hand, maybe going against a season vet is the fun part.”

The URL’s X account would extend an open invitation to Lucas to join the league, asking who he’d be willing to battle.
Undeterred, the wordsmith claimed that he’s willing to be matched up against anyone, going as far as to challenge Philly rap star Meek Mill to enter the URL ring with him. “Nobody is off the table,” Lucas warned, tagging the Dreamchaser himself in a toss of the gauntlet.

The lyricist’s willingness to jump into the battle rap arena led to fans suggesting potential opponents, including battle rap veterans Murda Mook, Tay Roc, Geechi Gotti, and more. URL legend DNA, who has retired from the sport, even offered to “return” to take Lucas up on his offer.
According to the URL, Lucas’ interest in battle rap is simply a reflection of the growing popularity of the sub-culture, which they feel will only further entrench itself in the mainstream.
“For the last year, hip-hop has been buzzing with a renewed competitive energy,” the league said in a statement to AllHipHop. “Commercial artists have increasingly turned to URL as the ultimate stage for lyrical showdowns. If Joyner Lucas wants to challenge Meek Mill, we’re ready to make it happen.”
As of press time, Meek Mill has yet to respond to Joyner Lucas’ challenge.
