Ye may be as erratic and problematic as ever, but for those still invested in his music, he has kept them well fed. The artist formerly known as Kanye West finally released Donda 2 on traditional streaming platforms this week.
He shared a tracklist for the album earlier this week and continually updated fans on when it would be uploaded and available to listen to. This closed a three-year period where fans waited for an official release for the public, as the Chicago producer originally released the LP in February 2022, but the only people who could play it were those who owned a Stem Player.
Now, the entire world can play it on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and more. Even the official release doesn’t come without challenges, though; the project is listed under the artist name “Donda” as opposed to “Ye” or even “Kanye West.” Nonetheless, once found, fans can enjoy the popular “City Of God” featuring Fivio Foreign and Alicia Keys, plus “Mr. Miyagi” featuring Future and vocals from Playboi Carti. The latter track, despite being played at the Donda 2 listening parties, did not make the Stem Player version of the album in 2022. Listen below.
There are a few other significant changes in this version of Donda 2. “Eazy,” Ye’s headline-grabbing collaboration with The Game, has been removed given their recent tension. “530” isn’t a new song, as it appeared on his Vultures 2 joint project with Ty Dolla $ign, however, it has been cleaned up.
Donda 2 is, of course, the sequel to his Grammy-nominated 2021 album Donda. The 27-song album featured JAY-Z, The Weeknd, Lil Baby, Playboi Carti, Fivio Foreign, and more. He ended up winning Best Rap Song for “Jail” and Best Melodic Performance for “Hurricane” at the 2022 Grammys.
Donda 2 is West’s second album release in as many months, following the Bully visual album in March. The now-deleted unconventional release could only be viewed via YouTube. It starred his son, Saint, who wielded a mallet while fighting off wrestlers in a ring while the entire LP played in the background.
