Claressa Shields has spent more time than usual in the spotlight spanning the last year — and not only for being an undisputed multi-division world champion — but for her relationship with Papoose, the long-devoted husband of Remy Ma.
After a series of heated online exchanges between Shields, Papoose, Remy, and her beau Eazy The Block Captain, the heavy-weight boxer challenged the “Conceited” rapper to get in the ring. Rem, however, ignored the request.
As things have simmered down since then, Keke Palmer recently reignited the feud when Shields and Remy appeared on her Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast. The conversation, which also included actress Ryan Destiny, took an unexpected turn when Palmer got messy and asked, “When are you going to knock out Remy Ma?” The remark, laced with Palmer’s infectious humor, made both Shields and Destiny laugh it off with no verbal response.
The latter question stems from December, when Shields announced a boxing match between her and Remy, urging her to “come get yo a** whooped.” She then doubled down on the proposition, declaring that she would box Remy the low price of “a dollar.”
However, the fight has not come into fruition.
In the same month, Shields appeared on Spolitics with Jemele Hill, where she explained, “At this point, you can give me a dollar and I’ll put my hands on her. It don’t got nothing to do with whatever else, it’s just that part alone… I’m a business woman, don’t leak my number. Why would you do that? Drama sells. I’m not in that beef. My smoke with her is posting my number. So, people like, ‘Oh, she wants to fight her over a dude,’ stop it. Stop it. That is so beneath me. It’s the disrespect of leaking my number part.”
Shields referred to the onset of their public spat when the 44-year-old battle rap enthusiast took to Instagram and shared text messages between Papoose and Shields. In the messages, Shields could be seen expressing frustration after Pap didn’t inform her he made it home safely.
She reportedly wrote: “You are the one who is married! If you can’t at least sleep on the phone with me or be with me in person… it shouldn’t be a big deal to let me know you made it home safe.”
Remy exposed the text thread with the caption: “Papoose dumb a** fell asleep on the phone with @claressashields [laughing emojis] Laying in my house he refuses to leave. This bi**h supposed to be a world champion boxer and her scary a** hung up as soon as she heard my voice [laughing emojis]. Now I’m telling everything! Oh, and babygirl, you’re not the only one [shrug emoji].”

The Detroit native quickly clapped back, responding: “How a woman with 2 boyfriends mad at a man that has a girlfriend? @remyma if I ain’t the only one, why the hell you tagging me?”
In response, Remy clarified that she’s a “one boyfriend woman” like she was a “one husband woman.”
“Hey Ms. Shields, I am a ONE boyfriend woman, the same way I was a ONE husband woman. And I’m a good woman at that,” she wrote in comments. “Hence why mfs won’t just go. Oh & He’s never gonna buy you anything cuz he thinks HE’S the prize he’s a taker not a giver. Plus I’m the one with the bag lol. Please, stop playing with me cuz I’m not the enemy you want.”
Since then, Pap and Shields have gone full-on public by supporting each other, traveling together, and expressing their love for one another. Last month, the two spent Valentine’s Day in Hawaii.
