Kevin Durant had a pretty chill Super Bowl Sunday.
During an interview with reporter Dana Scott, the NBA star revealed that he found the big game “boring” and shrugged off the record-breaking halftime performance by Kendrick Lamar.
“It meant nothing to me,” explained the 36-year-old when asked about watching the headlining act. “No thoughts — I didn’t really pay attention to it, to be honest. It was a little boring day for a Super Bowl. The game got out of hand. The Super Bowl Halftime Show was just…I didn’t pay attention to it. I kinda skimmed through the whole thing, to be honest.”
I asked Kevin Durant about Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show. He said Kendrick’s set including his ‘Not Like Us’ performance “meant nothing to me” and “didn’t pay attention to it” because the Eagles’ 40-22 blowout win over Chiefs was “boring” to watch. pic.twitter.com/6hWvko9ZhE

According to Billboard, Durant’s nonchalant attitude toward the big game and the Hip-Hop performance could be due to his NFL fandom or relationship with Drake. The Washington, D.C. native is a loyal fan of the Washington Commanders who were knocked off by the now Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles, and a good friend to Drake who was called out by K. Dot on the global stage.
“Whenever Drake just wants to talk about life I’m there for him and he just gave me that title,” he detailed in the past of serving as A&R for the Toronto rapper’s 2023 For All the Dogs album.
On the day of Super Bowl LIX, he also dubbed Drake and PartyNextDoor’s pending $ome $exy $ongs 4 U collaborative album a “classic” on X ahead of its Valentine’s Day arrival.

Despite Durant’s feelings on Kendrick Lamar’s showcase, many athletes responded positively to the 13-minute show.
On social media, Magic Johnson shared, “Kendrick Lamar brought the house down tonight in his half time performance! I loved his song selection and the production was amazing! Sza sounded great and I loved seeing my friend Serena Williams and my good friend Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam!” per Sports Business Journal.
Angel Reese also enjoyed the performance declaring the halftime show: “10/10. plus serena. chefs kiss.”
