Keyshia Cole found herself in the middle of a baby rumor mix-up this week, to which she has offered a sincere apology after mistakenly announcing that Ashanti and Nelly were expecting again.
The “Love” singer recently appeared on The Breakfast Club, where during a moment of celebrating her fellow R&B sister, she blurted out that Ashanti was allegedly pregnant with her second child. “Shout-out to Ashanti, because I mean, she’s amazing. She got a baby, she’s pregnant again …” she said with full confidence and no hesitation.
Ashanti nor Nelly have actually confirmed if they are expecting baby number two.
That announcement was met with a waves of both backlash and curiosity across social media. The Breakfast Club co-host Loren LoRosa immediately questioned whether Cole was speaking from fact or simply echoing rumors, while Jess Hilarious and Charlamagne Tha God appeared more inclined to believe her. But as Cole’s confidence visibly faded, it quickly became clear that the 43-year-old had shared information likely fueled by speculation rather than confirmation.
“She was being sincere. We really live in an eggshell society, whew! Hopefully this shouldn’t cause a rift between both artists, love their music!” one fan commented underneath Hollywood Unlocked’s repost of the interview. Another added, “I doubt if Ashanti even cares. She’s somewhere on cloud 9 living her best life lol.”
In response to all of the online commentary, Cole slid into the comments herself with an apology about the spill. “My apologies… I shouldn’t have said that. I thought she announced it. If that isn’t true then I apologize,”

To be fair, Ashanti has been open about wanting to expand her family with Nelly. Back in March, she told E! News that they’re planning to add more little ones to their crew — and this time, she’s hoping for a baby girl to balance out the boys.
“We’re going to add some more,” she said, teasing that if she had to choose their baby’s sex, she wouldn’t mind a mini-me. “Definitely a girl to balance it out. I’m outnumbered in the house right now. So, a girl would be great.”
