Kid Cudi Testifies Diddy Set His Car On Fire “Like A Supervillian”

Kid Cudi has been a highly anticipated witness the court, jurors, and the public have been eager to hear from in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing sex trafficking case. Today (May 22), the Cleveland hitmaker took the stand and spoke about his experience dating Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, and what he witnessed over the years regarding their relationship.

Cudi said he and Cassie began dating in 2011 and claimed she was no longer dating the music mogul at that time because they were “having problems.” In December 2011, the INDICUD rapper says Cassie called him one day saying Combs found out about them, and Cudi took her to the Sunset Marquis to keep her safe. He got a call from the Bad Boy founder’s employee Capricorn Clark saying that Diddy was in Cudi’s Hollywood Hills home.

“‘I said, ‘Motherf**ker, are you in my house?’ He said, ‘I am here waiting for you,’” Kid Cudi testified, per NBC. He then confirmed his car caught fire in his driveway one day in 2012 while he was about 45 minutes away from home. His dog sitter was the one who called to notify him, and a friend sent him photos that showed what was happening outside. The top of his Porsche was open where a Molotov cocktail was thrown in, which is allegedly what caused the fire.

Cassie previously testified that Combs’ threatened her and Cudi, and said he wanted to set Cudi’s car ablaze but he wouldn’t do it himself and would be out of the country during the incident. NBC noted that the “Mr. Rager” rapper “doesn’t appear to be nervous or stressed at all” on the stand and answered everything in a “very matter-of-fact tone.”

Cudi said he requested to meet with Combs after the event because he knew he “was involved with” what happened to his vehicle. The two eventually agreed to see each other at a Los Angeles hotel meeting room, and when Cudi arrived, the LOVE Album creator was calmly looking out the window with hands behind his back, looking like a “Marvel supervillain,” Kid Cudi recalled.

He also said Diddy eventually gave him a general apology a few years later and it was “the last thing” he expected to hear from Combs.

Witnesses who have taken the stand so far include Cassie and her mother, former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard, Diddy’s former assistant David James, hotel security guard Israel Florez, multiple sex workers who worked for Diddy, special agent Gerard Gannon, clinical psychologist Dawn Hughes, and others.

Diddy is currently facing one count of racketeering conspiracy; two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was arrested in NYC on Sept. 16, 2024, and was held at MDC Brooklyn without bail. If convicted, he faces 15 years to life in prison.
