  • In recent years, even with Kolawole Olawuyi long gone, the shadow of the late TB Joshua continues to loom over speculations surrounding his death.
  • Now, Olawuyi’s wife has broken her silence, offered a deeper glimpse into the true cause of his demise.

Abimbola Taiwo Olawuyi, widow of the late investigative journalist Kolawole Olawuyi, has shattered long-standing rumors linking her husband’s death to Prophet Temitope Balogun (TB) Joshua, the controversial pastor who died in June 2021.

Olawuyi, the managing director of Kolbims Communications, died on March 4, 2007, at a Lagos hospital, aged 44. As the producer and presenter of the widely acclaimed “Nkan Nbe” on television and “Irinkerindo” on radio, Olawuyi carved a niche for himself in Nigerian broadcasting.

From exposing ritualists and kidnappers to uncovering wicked landlords who terrorized their tenants, Olawuyi’s fearless reporting made him a household name and, perhaps, a target.

After his passing, whispers filled the air, with claims that he had paid the price for daring to probe TB Joshua’s alleged occultic practices. Many believed his investigation into the pastor had cost him his life.

But in a recent interview with Tooto TV, Abimbola set the record straight. She revealed that her husband died a natural death, succumbed to an illness he battled for just a week.

She explained:

“He was in Radio Nigeria when he did the report on TB Joshua. And it was actually because of the TB Joshua report that he left Radio Nigeria.

“My husband was airing a programme on TB Joshua, but the cleric went to some bosses at Radio Nigeria, asking them to halt the broadcast.

“However, my husband said ‘no’. So, he left Radio Nigeria because of TB Joshua’s exposé. That was 1996, and he died in 2007.

“So, sincerely speaking, his death has nothing to do with TB Joshua nor with any story that he did in his journalism career”
