LeBron and Bronny James have denied “each and every allegation” levied against them in a 2022 car crash lawsuit.

The Los Angeles Times reports that plaintiffs Kiara McGillen and April Lopez filed the suit in the LA County Superior Court in October 2024, with the legal documents accusing the father-son duo of “negligently owned, controlled, repaired, entrusted, maintained and operated an automobile as to cause it to, and it did, become involved in an accident or collision,” resulting in an alleged injury to the two people.

The suit further explains that the plaintiffs “sustained personal injuries which caused and will continue to cause pain, discomfort and physical disability,” and have had to “[employ] and will employ in the future physicians, surgeons and others for examination, treatment and care.”

As the document continues, it claims that McGillen and Lopez were driving along the Pearblossom Highway in November 2022 when the accident allegedly transpired. Their suit previously stated that the McGillen was driving during the time of the incident, but the document has since been amended to reflect that the duo were both passengers in the vehicle, with the car belonging to Lopez.

The Los Angeles Lakers teammates recently fought back against the suit as attorneys repping them filed their answer on Thursday (Feb. 20). The joint filing from the father-duo tandem listed 14 defenses to the plaintiff’s complaints, insisting that if any injuries happened, they were a result of “persons other than these answering defendants…by plaintiffs in failing to conduct themselves in a manner ordinarily expected of a reasonably prudent person in the conduct of their affairs and person.”

The James’ filing continues, stating that “the events, injuries, losses, and damages complained of in plaintiffs’ complaint, if any there were, were unavoidable insofar as these answering defendants are concerned and occurred without any negligence, want of care, default, or other breach of duty to plaintiffs on the part of said defendants.”

“These answering defendants deny each and every allegation contained in the complaint and further deny that plaintiffs have been damaged in the sum or sums alleged, or any other sum or sums, or at all,” the lawsuit states.

It should be noted that days after the plaintiff’s lawsuit was filed, the Antelope Valley office of the California Highway Patrol asserted that they could not locate a police report filed in November 2022 concerning any accidents at the location listed. Additionally, the 2022 car crash suit doesn’t signify whether or not the Highway Patrol was alerted of the accident.

Kiara McGillen and April Lopez are seeking unspecified damages.
