Lerato Makhetha (born August 20, 1986), sometimes called Lerato Mofokeng, is a creative South African actor, singer, and songwriter. He is best known for his recurring role as Ntando Sibeko on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo. He began his career as a musician, playing the saxophone in various jazz bands around Johannesburg.
He eventually transitioned to acting, landing his first role on Isidingo in 1998. Since then, Lerato Makhetha has appeared in a number of television shows and movies like The Legacy, Umlilo, and Baby Mamas, among others.

Early Life & Education
Lerato Makhetha was born on August 20, 1986, in Soweto, South Africa, to a famous and veteran South African actor named Jerry Mofokeng.
His father is a very popular personality in the entertainment industry. His mother, on the other hand, is called Claudine Mofokeng. Although he was born in South Africa, he was raised in New York. His siblings are Tsakane Mofokeng, Palesa Mofokeng, Mpho Mofokeng, and Mosa Mofokeng.
Lerato Makhetha‘s family relocated to the United States when he was one year old. The relocation was because his father was awarded a scholarship to study at Columbia University.

After graduating from high school, Lerato Makhetha decided to further his musical studies at the National School of Arts (NSA), where he played lead roles in two musicals in 2001 and 2002. He received a National Senior Certificate in Popular, Jazz, and Contemporary Music.

In November 2014, South African celebrity and actor Lerato Makhetha married his longtime girlfriend, Phetola Makhetha, who he had been dating since 2006. In 2012, Phetola Makhetha gave birth to the couple’s first child – an adorable daughter they named Lehakoe Makhetha. Their second child, also a daughter, was called Leruo Makhetha.

The couple’s wedding was held in November of 2014 in front of 100 guests at a luxury hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa, and was considered one of the country’s most talked about weddings that year.
