Lil Durk‘s attorneys are calling bull on the murder-for-hire allegations placed on him. TMZ reports that Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg, who represent The Findling Law Firm, P.C., Jonathan Brayman, and Christy O’Connor, released a statement denying the allegations and asserting that prosecutors are trying to create a narrative to pin on the Chicago rapper. The quartet of legal minds insisted that when the prosecution points to lyrics as evidence, they don’t have a real case against that person.

“When you see an artist’s rap lyrics quoted as ‘evidence’ against them, it is a glaring indication that there is no real evidence against that person,” the attorneys express in a joint statement. “The claims in the indictment against Mr. Banks are false and lacking in the most basic due diligence. The real truth is that Durk Banks is a Grammy Award-winning artist, a dedicated father, and a loving husband.”

“Mr. Banks has been intensely committed to giving back to the Chicago community he loves through his Neighborhood Heroes Foundation and has put on more than a dozen charitable events over the last few years…He is looking forward to fighting against these false allegations in court.“

Federal prosecutors have maintained that Lil Durk, né Durk Devontay Banks, previously explained via lyrics how he wanted the hit on Saviay’a Robinson, Quando Rondo’s cousin, to be done. The feds pointed to Durk’s verse on Babyface Ray’s song “Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy,” where Durkio raps “Told me they got an addy/ Got location, green light/ Look on the news and see your son/ You screamin’, ‘No, no.’”

The murder took place in 2022, and Babyface Ray’s track was released that same year. Federal prosecutors have surmised that the murder-for-hire plot was laid out and followed through as the track served as a call to action and alleged recollection of the hit.

In early November, Banks was hit with a series of new charges from the Department of Justice, in his case, including, “one count of conspiracy, one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, and one count of using, carrying, and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.”
