Lil Wayne is one of the most enduring acts Hip-Hop has ever seen, and he’s ready to breed the next crop of stars. The 42-year-old rapper recently introduced the world to the latest additions to the Young Money lineage, signaling a new era for the legendary collective.

During last week’s Young Money Radio on Apple Music, Weezy F Baby welcomed Jay Jones, Allan Cubas, Domiio, Euro, Poppy, and Lucifena into the family. Lucifena is a standout act as she is a metal-edge singer along the vein of Nirvana and Deftones. Weezy said he was into her sound, specifically screaming, so much after hearing her track “Tyrant” that he had to put a guitar solo and verse on the record.

Tunechi also gave a huge co-sign to Poppy, stating he thinks of him as his “Motherf**kin’ son” and joked that he raised him. He was specifically intrigued by how “dirty” the fellow New Orleans’ rappers sound was. Notably, Poppy also sports locs. As for Cubas, the five-time Grammy winner enjoyed the versatility of his sound, saying his ability to pivot from rap to “Latin sh*t” was “something we’ve never had at Young Money.”

Lil Wayne spoke to Jay Jones about his January mixtape, Almost Forgot Who I Was, and how he has a collaborative tape with Allan Cubas in the works titled Flight 504 that will blend their styles. The “Fireman” rapper highlighted Domiio, also known as Drizzy P, for having “confidence through the roof.”

This cast will join longtime members Cory Gunz and Twist. “We got to make each thing better than the last one,” Gunz said of the new additions and his career. As for Twist, he is taking his sound in a different direction. “I’m rocking with the alternative Hip-Hop rock,” he said, revealing he is working with a live band. Given Wayne’s dip into rock with the 2010 album Rebirth, he’s already got a path laid out for him.

Lil Wayne couldn’t have selected a better time to make this announcement, as he is picking up steam ahead of his forthcoming album Tha Carter VI. The LP releases on June 6, and closes almost a seven-year gap since the fifth edition of the legendary series.
