Listen to My Chemical Romance’s first new song since 2014 called “The Foundations of Decay” – Texx and the City

This last Friday the 13th turned out to be not-so-cursed as emo poster boys My Chemical Romance released a new song called “The Foundations Of Decay”, their first new music in almost a decade.

The last time the band released new material was eight years ago with a song called Fake Your Death” off their then Best Of compilation called May Death Never Stop You.

Clocking in a just over six minutes, “The Foundations of Decay” it’s an emotive number that starts off slow but builds up into an emo crescendo, and even though I would’ve liked a bit more power in Gerard Way’s vocal line, this will still more than satisfy even the most hardcore fan.

Way seems to comment on the 9/11 attacks in the song, an event that led to the formation of My Chemical Romance.

“Starting Mychem was a direct result of everything we experienced and witnessed during those horrific events,” MCR wrote in a statement on Instagram. “The world changed that day, and the next day we set about trying to change the world.

And change the world, they did! If this means new MCR tracks or even an album, we don’t know. All we know is, that there is a new MCR song and that you should check on your emo friends because they are not okay (I promise).
