LLYDTHEFIRST and LXRDMORDECAI have teamed up for a two-track release titled, Loud Pack – in which the dynamic duo explore the experiences associated with smoking cannabis. The two up and comers showcase a brief but experimental offering that puts each individual at its centre where their individual talents lie.
“Zone” is defined by a strong beat and sets the time for the EP, building anticipation, and navigating a double meaning – one related to “zoning out” and one related to concentrated power and will that sees a person motivated and “in the zone”.
Folding neatly into the beat of its predecessor is “THC”, a sultry R&B song that contemplates a lost love being nursed by getting high. The beautifully layered vocals elevate the narrative: “Rolling my weed/ I’m just trying to get high baby” fading into “Send me your location baby/ I’m just trying to get to you”, perfectly capturing the tune’s mood.
Loud Pack is a mellow trap-soul EP that gives a nod both to hip-hop and R&B and merges the themes of romance, hyping yourself and getting lost in a moment. LLYDTHEFIRST and LXRDMORDECAI bring their best and this leaves you wanting more.
