M.Rumbi first appeared on our radar back in 2021 with a string of modern soul singles, pairing soft melodies with heartfelt lyrics. Now he’s back, his latest EP See Me. Si Me. Reimagined a captivating journey of self-reflection.
The four-track offering revisits and reworks singles from the songwriter’s previous releases, showcasing his immense artistic growth over the last two years. Where previously his music was raw and unrestrained, this collection of remixes and re-recordings is bolder and louder.
Opener “See Me (Remix)” hinges on a drunken jazz beat while flourishes of sax and horn linger with real immediacy. “Life Is Sommer (Remix)” is more restrained, somewhat downcast, underpinned by long-time collaborator Nawekulo’s sultry vocals.
“Life Is She (Remix)” gives centre stage to honest lyricism, backed by the brittle sound of vintage keys. It’s simple and that’s exactly why it works.

Stacking up streams across platforms, M. Rumbi is certainly a rapper on the rise, his intricate instrumentation and languid style of songwriting pulsating with contemporary relevance.
