She is the offspring of the author and academic Marie Squerciati, while her father is John R. Jakobson. She earned a B.A. in theater from Northwestern University in 2003.
Marina Squerciati received the Agnes Moorehead award for her contributions to the theater for her portrayal of Judy Holliday in the off-Broadway production of Just in Time: The Judy Holliday Story at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
