Megan Thee Stallion responded to rumors that a quick selfie resulted in her being banned from the Met Gala. Speaking with PEOPLE Magazine, the 30-year-old rapper addressed online claims that a video she recorded at the notoriously private event rubbed Anna Wintour, chair of the charity ball, the wrong way.
“No. We’re gonna dead these rumors right now, okay? People are like, ‘Oh my God, Megan, you got banned from the Met Gala. No, I didn’t, babe. Like that’s not true,” she explained. “Y’all made that up and ran with it. They love making [stuff up]. Anna [Wintour] loves me, babe. That’s why my phone was out.”
In the video in question, the “Cocky Af” rapper whipped out her “Hottie Cam” and shared the clip of herself, Angel Reese, and Doechii at the glamorous event eating.
For the affair, the Grammy-winner wore a custom Michael Kors floral lace gown.
“Artisans spent 670 hours embroidering over 75,000 crystals in three sizes, all sewn individually by hand,” described the designer on Instagram. “She accompanied the look with an optic white faux fur coat complete with a white-and-silver sequin lining. For inspiration, Michael and Megan were intrigued by strong women like Josephine Baker and Eartha Kitt, whose approach to fashion was full of swagger, drama and glamour.”
“I wear at least 10-pound wigs all the time,” she detailed to PEOPLE about her red-tinted updo. “I put a lot of bundles in my hair, so my neck is pretty strong.”
“I’m surprised [my neck] doesn’t have abs, but yeah. My hair was definitely light work. That was lightweight,” the “Body” performer continued. “That was a regular day.”
