Melanie Fiona is so back.
The Grammy winner announced on Wednesday (Feb. 26) that her long-awaited EP, Say Yes, on April 4. This will be her first major project since 2012’s The MF Life.
Say Yes is described as “a collection of deeply personal and sonically rich songs that explore themes of love, vulnerability, and self-discovery […] reaffirming Fiona’s ability to evolve while staying true to the soulfulness that has defined her artistry.”
It will include previously released singles, “I Choose You,” “Mona Lisa Smile,” and the titular release, “Say Yes.”
“Say Yes” speaks on being brave enough to welcome love while “I Choose You” is more of an upbeat tune — inspired by her wedding vows — that honors the all-consuming joy associated with choosing to love someone wholeheartedly, confidently, and deliberately. “These songs come from a very personal place,” Melanie noted. “They are about love, choice, and empowerment — allowing yourself to say yes, to the love and life that is waiting for you on the other side of fear.”
Melanie recently reflected on the inspiration behind the newest single, “Mona Lisa Smile.”
“The thing I’m most proud of, is that I showed up and never stopped showing up, even when I didn’t feel my best. Sometimes you gotta put on your #MonaLisaSmile and keep it moving!” she shared on Instagram. “I am so grateful to this body that has shown up for me in so many different seasons of my life. Self Love and a grateful heart is the real flex.”
In addition to the EP, Melanie is headed on the road. The 15-city Say Yes tour begins on April 27 in Philadelphia, PA. The trek will stop in New York City, Toronto, Atlanta, and Chicago before concluding on June 1 in Los Angeles.
Tickets will be available starting on Friday, Feb. 28 via her official website.
