Moto G42 leaked design and details
The Motorola Moto G42 was also passed on to the IMEI database. As per the listing the phone is codenamed HawaiiPlusOLED22. It’s not a surprise to see Motorola using popular locations as codenames for their smartphones. The Moto G42 appearance on BIS certification hints toward a possible India launch. As the codename suggests, the phone will pack an OLED display. Not a big surprise, as Motorola has been introducing this in more mid-range smartphones recently. Unfortunately, the listings are not very revealing, and we only know the moniker and that the phone is coming with an OLED screen. The FCC certification also confirms dual BAND Wi-Fi networks. The phone will offer NFC and Bluetooth connectivity. It will come with Android 12, which is hardly a surprise.
Thankfully, there are a couple of leaked images, a courtesy of popular leakster Abhishek Yadav. The device falls in online with current Motorola offerings in terms of design. The Motorola Moto G42 will have a punch-hole cutout at the center top of the display. As usual in the mid-range department, the company has a large chin at the bottom. The back panel of the phone has a triple-camera setup that sits inside of a rectangular camera module that sits at the top left corner. The phone has a triple-camera setup at the back. There are two possible configurations here: The main camera with high resolution, an ultrawide snapper, and a depth or macro shooter, or the main camera + macro and depth sensors. We have strong reasons to believe in the second possibility.
The renders also confirm the Moto G42 will pack a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button. That’s not a big surprise, after all, the OLED screens do not mean in-display scanners all the time. The left edge of the phone will serve as a home for the SIM card tray. The phone will likely bring a hybrid slot with micro SD card support. The bottom edge of the phone will have a USB Type-C port, the speaker grille, and the primary microphone.
