The iPhone 15 Ultra, Apple’s upcoming ultra-high-end smartphone, is still being discussed. Now, we have new leaks regarding the next Californian brand flagship.
While the iPhone 14 has just recently hit the market, the iPhone 15 range is already taking shape according to a number of leaks. The earliest details suggested that the following generation will include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Ultra.
We got confirmations from a number of reliable sources, including Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman, that the Pro Max name will be abandoned. The name Ultra would now apply to the line’s most expensive model, which is consistent with the launch of the Apple Watch Ultra. This model is even more expensive than the iPhone Pro Max.
Better battery life and 8K footage for the iPhone 15 Ultra?
Following these leaks, LeaksApplePro, a well-known Twitter insider , provided some of the technical specifications of the next iPhone 15 Ultra. The smartphone would have 8K video recording capabilities. Apple is reportedly already working on 8K recording, although the leaker is unsure if this capability will just be available on the iPhone 15 Ultra. It’s possible that the Pro version will also have 8K.

The most recent iPhones can only record 4K video. Apple falls behind the competition on this aspect. For instance, three generations of Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones have supported 8K recording. The brand’s foldable devices have the same thing on the side. The iPhone 15 Ultra will also include a periscopic lens to provide superior optical zoom, claims analyst Ming Chi Kuo.
The iPhone 15 Ultra would benefit from better autonomy as well. In fact, Apple wants to make all of its iPhones’ battery life better. However, the biggest battery should go to the most expensive smartphone. LeaksApplePro claims an increase in autonomy of 3 to 4 hours.
The smartphone should have a 6.7-inch screen, similar to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Unsurprisingly, this Ultra variant will cost much. The insider anticipates that the pricing will at least start at $1,199, which is $100 higher than the price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
