  • In a bombshell revelation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Nollywood filmmaker Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe in Lagos during the final days of 2024.
  • The shocking arrest has left social media abuzz, with fans and industry insiders stunned by the unexpected twist in the filmmaker’s career.

Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe, a US-trained filmmaker, Nollywood producer and renowned motivational speaker, was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in a high-stakes operation that has raised eyebrows across the entertainment world.

The NDLEA broke the news on January 5 via X, revealing that Mbadiwe was apprehended on December 27, 2024, in his hotel room in Lekki, Lagos, following a dramatic series of events.

The story took a sinister turn earlier that day when Mbadiwe’s partner, Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James, was captured at a warehouse in Ajao Estate, Ikeja, as he attempted to collect a massive shipment of illicit drugs on behalf of his associate.

James, acting on Mbadiwe’s orders, had gone to retrieve 33 parcels of Loud, a highly potent strain of cannabis, weighing a staggering 17.30 kilograms.

The drugs, shipped from the United States, had arrived just days earlier on December 24, 2024, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, cleverly concealed in large wooden boxes.

The highly organized shipment was imported aboard a Delta Airlines flight, and its arrival set off a chain of events that ultimately ensnared the filmmaker and his associate in a web of drug trafficking scandal and arrest.

Statement from NDLEA;

“NDLEA officers on Friday 27th December 2024 arrested a US-trained Hollywood and Nollywood filmmaker, Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe, who is also a motivational speaker at his Lekki Hotel room following the arrest of his partner, Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James, earlier same day at a warehouse in Ajao estate Ikeja, where he was sent by Mbadiwe to collect a shipment of 33 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis weighing 17.30 kilograms, which arrived the Import shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja on 24th December 2024 from the United States on a Delta Airline flight, concealed in large wooden boxes.”
