The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into a wave of concern and compassion as beloved Nollywood actor Tom Njeamanze faces a critical health challenge.

The veteran, known for his commanding screen presence and memorable performances in films from the early 2000s, is currently battling prostate cancer and urgently requires financial assistance for life-saving surgery.

News of his health crisis was made public by fellow actor and filmmaker Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, who took to Instagram to share a distressing video of Njeamanze lying weakly on a hospital bed.

In the video, the ailing actor is seen connected to an IV drip, with an oxygen cylinder placed beside him — a stark contrast to the vibrant performer fans remember from Nollywood’s golden era.

With a trembling voice and deep emotion, Stanley appealed to the public:

“Hello guys, one of our Nollywood legends is sick and needs urgent surgery. Sir Tom Njamanze has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and he needs your support to undergo surgery. Nothing is too small, fams. Help our legend live again.”

He also shared the actor’s account details, urging fans, colleagues, and well-wishers to donate towards the medical costs. As the video made rounds across Instagram, it quickly gained traction. It prompted an outpouring of concern and solidarity from both fans and fellow actors.

Actress Evans Okoro also amplified the call for help, taking to her own social media platform to repost the video and echo the plea for donations.

To remind fans of the actor’s rich legacy, Stanley also posted a nostalgic throwback clip featuring Tom Njeamanze in his prime — acting alongside Nollywood icons like Nkem Owoh and the late Sam Loco Efe. The powerful scene, a snapshot of the glory days of classic Nollywood, left many viewers teary-eyed and appreciative of Njeamanze’s contribution to the industry.

Tom Njeamanze rose to prominence in the early 2000s with his roles in hit films like Brain Box, Twin Brothers, Magic Cap, Caesar to Caesar, and the fan-favorite Pounds and Dollars, where his role in the 2015 film remains a standout performance etched in the memories of many.
