Omarion dishes on his romantic preferences as a guest of the Sherri show.

Speaking with host Sherri Shepherd, the R&B singer shared more on his past experience with practicing celibacy, as well as his thoughts on nontraditional relationships. The conversation of “ethical non-monogamy” was introduced by Shepherd, mentioning actor Kofi Siriboe’s commitment to the dating style.

“I will say I’m in agreeance. I don’t know all of the back story of those words,” shared the 40-year-old. “I would say for me, being open is important, and also, you know, the women just truly outnumber the men, you know what I mean?’”

After the host comedically asked “Is this like an all you can eat buffet?” Omarion continued, “Let me just say, it’s only a few good men. Whether or not it’s a physical thing, we end up fostering the next generation as well…I was raised by all women, why not have our queens align with that? It takes a village. It’s not gonna just be one man. You can get married, that man still ain’t gonna be just your man. He’s going to be there for his daughter, he’s gonna be there for his mom, his grandmother. This concept isn’t really foreign, it’s just a little old. It’s meant to be upgraded.”

He continued to detail, “I love this conversation because I think when men are open and honest that they don’t wanna have just this one thing for the rest of their life—it gives a woman an opportunity to choose and to further understand a man because I think that women don’t really understand a man. I think that women don’t really understand a man. Certain women do, but there’s a larger conversation that has to be had about understanding men and how, you know, we’re meant to spread our seed.”

In the past, Omarion has confirmed his openness to polyamory. Other celebrities who have been open about having multiple partners and nontraditional relationships include Nick Cannon, Janelle Monáe, Joey Bada$$, Will Smith, and more.

“It’s been a while since I’ve actually been in a ‘girlfriend-boyfriend’ type of relationship. But I think a private life is a happy life. I believe that she finds me,” he asserted. “It might be ‘shes.’ ‘Shes’ might find me. Plurals. ‘Shes.’ I’m just saying if I really thought about my lifestyle and being with me—the pressure of being with me and it just being one woman. I don’t know if that exists,” shared the singer to Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast in 2023.

“I don’t come from a traditional standpoint. I feel like I’ve definitely tried the traditional way, and I don’t know if that’s for me.”
