The music space has been chomping at the bit for beef after Drake and Kendrick Lamar took over 2024, and it seemed like PARTYNEXTDOOR and Tory Lanez might have been heading in that direction. However, PND recently cleared up his supposed issues with the incarcerated singer, crediting it all to a misunderstanding.
“@torylanez I was told about what you said without hearing your video for myself,” the Mississauga artist wrote in an Instagram story. “You didn’t say anything that I wouldn’t say myself, now that I seen it I was wrong. City is stronger together.”
This came just hours after he previewed a song dissing the Chixtape artist. “F**k what Tory Lanez say… you know the B, I’m running that/ I did everything he did, oh he’s just a running man,” he sang. “You said I sound like Young Thug, you know you sound like me […] One day, you’ll be me.” He also emphatically stated during the Instagram live that he’s not “y’all ni**as’ friend” and to stop saying his name.
It is unclear what PARTYNEXTDOOR heard that set him off, especially since Tory Lanez recently praised his collaborative album with Drake, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. “PARTYNEXTDOOR showed his best work of 2025, Drake showed his best work of 2025, The Weeknd showed his best work of 2025,” Lanez said in leaked audio from a prison phone call. “Now it’s time for me to come out.”
It was also a surprising shot, considering Drake and Tory have been strong supporters of each other over the years. On numerous occasions, the 6 God has called for the “LUV” singer to be released from prison. He even seemingly threw a shot at Megan Thee Stallion on his 2022 track “Circo Loco,” suggesting that she lied about getting shot by the controversial artist.
Nonetheless, it doesn’t look like there will be any Toronto R&B beef any time soon. Instead, PND can revel in the fact that he secured his first No. 1 album with $$$4U. The album’s first-week sales, 246,000 album-equivalent units, also nearly quintupled his best first-week sales performances, which came from 2016’s P3 and 2020’s PARTYMOBILE with 50,000 units.
