Tracee Ellis Ross once told VIBE that the “ship had sailed” on a Girlfriends reboot — but she just gave fans the next best thing: a full-circle reunion in the form of her first-ever Pattern Beauty commercial.
Directed by the boundary-pushing creative known as child, the commercial gives salon-meets-speakeasy, where Ross serves as the “Chief CURLtender” — slinging custom product cocktails instead of drinks.
In a moment that has fans talking and excited more than ever, Ross is joined by her Girlfriends co-stars Golden Brooks, Jill Marie Jones, and Persia White, marking their first onscreen reunion in years. Together, the girls are treated to different hair “cocktails,” including a curling iron treatment for Brooks’ fallen curls. For extra moisture, White opts for a “thirst trap.”
PATTERN Beauty
“Hair cocktailing is a common practice in our community – we layer curl gels, creams, oils and more to create a personalized formula that works best for our own hair,” stated Ross, who also serves as Pattern’s Co-CEO and Founder.
Speaking of reuniting with her Girlfriends, she added that she wanted to “show the joy that lives in their shared hair moments. From curls, coils and tight textures to locs, fades, straight styles and more.”
As Pattern approaches its sixth year on shelves, it continues to stand in its own lane as one of the few Black-owned, Black-founded beauty brands with a “complete range for wash, style, treatment, heat, and tools.”
With their first commercial — which is streaming across Hulu, Roku, Disney+, and more — the possibilities at Pattern are endless.
