Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Ugezu J. Ugezu has publicly criticized political commentator Reno Omokri for allegedly accepting what he described as a dangerous and morally compromising role in Nigerian politics—actively demarketing 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi online.
In a strongly worded social media post shared on his verified Instagram page on Tuesday July 1st, Ugezu accused Omokri of taking on “the most dangerous job ever accepted by any mortal in the history of dirty politics in Nigeria.”
He suggested that Omokri’s relentless online campaign against Obi places him in direct opposition to a growing wave of public consciousness and moral truth. Ugezu went further, stating, “Even the universe is against you. You will not easily recover from the self-induced ruins.”
The post, which has since gone viral, was signed off with the phrase, “The Masquerade Writes”—a poetic nod to Ugezu’s longstanding cultural persona.
He ended his caption by addressing Omokri directly: “My brother @renoomokri. One Love…. One Africa.”

Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has been an outspoken critic of Peter Obi on social media, regularly challenging his political record, campaign narratives, and the fervent support he receives from the Obidient movement.
While Omokri maintains that his criticisms are issue-based and rooted in facts, many Obi supporters view his frequent attacks as politically motivated and increasingly hostile.
Ugezu’s public call-out adds a new layer to the ongoing tensions between pro-Obi advocates and political influencers aligned with Nigeria’s ruling establishment.
His intervention, coming from a respected figure in the entertainment industry, underscores growing concern among public personalities about the tone and direction of Nigeria’s online political discourse.
The statement also reignites the broader debate over the roles of public figures in shaping political narratives.
While Omokri has a long history of political commentary, critics argue that his posts have crossed into personal attacks and disinformation, particularly targeting Peter Obi and his supporters.
