Kendrick Lamar‘s victory lap took him to Atlanta for the latest stop of The Grand National Tour with SZA. Playboi Carti surprised his hometown crowd by popping out at the show.
K. Dot treated the Mercedes-Benz Stadium crowd to “N95” on Tuesday evening (April 29) when, all of a sudden, the enigmatic artist popped out. The duo performed “Good Credit,” one of their three collaborations from Carti’s latest album Music.
Their other two tracks together are “Backd00r,” which also features Jhené Aiko, and “Mojo Jojo.” Lamar’s appearance, as well as features from Travis Scott, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, and The Weeknd, helped Carti secure another Billboard 200 No. 1 album with Music. Thus, he and the Compton rapper joining forces on stage for the first time was major for all fans.
Kendrick Lamar and SZA are only four shows into The Grand National Tour at the time of publishing, yet they are already making major headlines. The opening night in Minneapolis broke the record for the highest-grossing rap concert ever, surpassing Eminem’s record-setting 2019 show in Melbourne, Australia. It was also the first concert to break the $9 million revenue barrier, and it was both his and SZA’s most-attended concerts in their careers, with 47,354 tickets sold.
The Grand National Tour will continue up through August, stopping at stadiums in major cities such as Charlotte, Philadelphia, Seattle, St. Louis, Chicago, and Toronto. In July, they head overseas to Germany, England, France, Portugal, and Italy before finishing up in Sweden.
The Grand National Tour is in support of the Pulitzer Prize winner’s November 2024 album GNX, which boasts two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 songs in “Squabble Up” and “Luther” featuring SZA. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and recently returned to the top spot on multiple occasions following his Super Bowl LIX halftime show performance. Listen to GNX below.
