President Tinubu congratulates Tems on her Grammy win

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his congratulations to singer Tems on her recent Grammy Award win.

Recall that Tems took home the award for Best African Music Performance for her song “Love Me Jeje” at the 67th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles on February 2nd, 2025.

Tems’ win marked a significant achievement, as she beat out other notable Nigerian artists, including Yemi Alade, Asake, Davido, and Burna Boy.

This award also marked Tems’ second Grammy win, following her previous win in 2023 for Best Melodic Rap Performance for her contribution to the song “Wait for U“.

In reaction to this, president Tinubu took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his pride in Tems’ accomplishments.

The President also acknowledged the achievements of other Nigerian artists who were nominated for this year’s Grammys, noting that their accomplishments continue to inspire all Nigerians.

“Congratulations to @temsbaby on winning the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance, “Love Me Jeje.” I am proud of her accomplishments and those of Nigerian origin who was nominated for the Grammy awards. Their achievements continue to inspire all Nigerians. Congratulations!” he wrote.

Similarly, Reno Omokri congratulates Tems for winning Grammy.

In his congratulatory message on Instagram, Reno Omokri praised Tems for being a proud Nigerian who consistently speaks positively about her country.

He expressed delight in her achievement, stating that it is a rare honor for a Nigerian artist to win a Grammy Award twice.

Reno wrote;

Congratulations, Tems, and thank you for bringing the Best African Music Performance Grammy back to Nigeria. It is so delightful that a proud Nigerian who always speaks well of her country has achieved the rare honour of being a double Grammy winner. We are happy for and with you, Tems. If only others can learn from you, they may have their own Grammy to boast of.”
