Princess Charlene has spent her 44th birthday away from her family and possibly in rehab.
The royal spent her special day alone after rumours emerged that she was holed up in a treatment facility due to an alleged drug abuse.
PRINCESS CHARLENE CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY ALONE
Taking to her Instagram account for the first time this year, Princess Charlene reposted a birthday message from her official charity. The clip featured pictures of the South African raised royal through different stages of her life, including her childhood.
The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation captioned the clip: “Happy birthday, Princess Charlene! We honour you for how much you always give of yourself to change people’s lives around the world, your passion and dedication to saving and changing lives is truly an inspiration.
“We trust this video of your journey thus far reminds you just how loved and appreciated you are”.
The video was also posted on the Palace of Monaco’s Facebook page.
Apart from the clip, Princess Charlene did not share any pics or clips of birthday celebrations with her Instagram followers.
IS ROYAL IN DRUG REHAB?
According to the palace, Princess Charlene is still in a treatment centre after being admitted late last year.
This after suffering a series of health setbacks, including a major sinus infection and operation which forced her to spend months in South Africa.
Since her return to Monaco, the royal has spent extended periods of time away from her family. This includes the festive season, her twin children’s birthday, her 10th wedding anniversary and Monaco’s Independence Day,
In December, Princess Charlene’s husband Prince Albert assured the public that she was “recuperating in a satisfactory and reassuring manner”. He also revealed that she was a long way away from a full recovery.
The full statement read: “The Princely Palace would like to share the following information regarding H.S.H. Princess Charlene’s health: H.S.H. Princess Charlene is recuperating in a satisfactory and reassuring manner, although it may take a few more months before her health has reached a full recovery”.
Prince Albert has also assured the public that the treatment has nothing to do with “cancer, COVID-19, or plastic surgery”. He also stressed that his wife’s absence was not linked to any rumours of marital strife.
He told People magazine: “I’m probably going to say this several times, but this has nothing to do with our relationship. I want to make that very clear. These are not problems within our relationship; not with the relationship between a husband and wife. It’s of a different nature.”
Now the rumour mill has been in overdrive with speculation that the blonde royal is possibly seeking treatment for drug abuse after a family intervention.
There has also been talk that Princess Charlene may have had some sort of mental breakdown and is seeking professional help.
