Qing Madi Sings Through The Scars Of Love on ‘Favorite Psycho’

When it comes to delivering vulnerable love ballads, Qing Madi is one of the few who does so with grace and robust vocals. It is true that genuine love is often intertwined with vulnerability, and that love is inherently illogical. It is also true that to love is to risk suffering. Qing Madi’s Colors Studios rendition of “Favorite Psycho” perfectly exemplifies this conceptual side of love. Woven into the melodies, cadence, and spellbinding performance is a heart bruised by unrequited affection. Yet, Madi remains resolute in her choice, declaring herself their “favorite psycho.” Though, it’s difficult to discern who truly embodies that role.

The song takes on a more poignant and desperate tone as she pleads with her love interest for reasons to stay and continue their relationship, willing to accept even falsehoods. “If loving you will cost my life, I’ll do it again, I’ll do it again,” she sings. Indeed, love is a beautiful thing, but Qing Madi’s “Favorite Psycho” presents a stark parallel; it’s a “hate crime” of the heart, yet she appears to be in a state of controlled catharsis, articulating her love ordeals with captivating vocals.

While this is undoubtedly a challenging experience for an 18-year-old, Qing Madi’s ability to craft emotive ballads with impeccable songwriting, coupled with an equally masterful delivery, is a rare gift in the music scene.
