Richard Sherman’s Home Robbed At Gunpoint With Family Inside

Retired NFL star Richard Sherman‘s recent birthday may have been one he’d like to forget. He took to social media to share that his King County, Wash., home was robbed at gunpoint with his wife, Ashley Moss, and their two children inside.

The former Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tweeted on Monday (March 31), “House being robbed at gun point with my family in it isn’t what anyone wants for a birthday gift.

He described the incident as a “scary situation that my wife handled masterfully” and also noted that she “kept my kids safe.” He shared photos and videos of the suspects in an effort to gain information on their identities to give local authorities.

The video showed them breaking and entering through a window before one of them tossed an object in the direction of Sherman’s security camera. He revealed that “it was a phone they took” and the group of thieves “got 5 homes from what the police told us.” An active investigation is underway and no arrests have been made.

He is at least one of nine professional athletes who’ve had their homes burglarized in recent months. Other incidents included Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis, all of which prompted the FBI to officially warn athletes about the burglaries.

According to The Atlantic, Sherman is a Super Bowl champion and three-time first-team All-Pro with the Seattle Seahawks. He played 11 seasons in the league; his last being with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. He is now a NFL analyst for Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football.
