In the season finale of Saturday Night Live, actor Mike Myers found himself in an awkward interaction with Ye (played by Kenan Thompson).
Host Scarlett Johansson — playing the character Janice — initially gushed about Shrek and being thrilled to experience New York City for the first time to Myers before “Ye” got on the elevator. She quickly scurried off, leaving the Austin Powers star alone with the controversial rap figure.
Myers quipped, “You can’t leave me alone with him.” As he entered the elevator, Kanye West joked, “Spotify removed my song, man. Give me one good reason. Besides that. Besides that.”
After spotting Myers, he reflected on the last time they saw each other, which was during a 2005 Hurricane Katrina Benefit “when I told the world that George Bush don’t care about Black people on live TV and you just had to stand there looking stupid.”
Myers then asked West what he’d been up to recently, to which Ye responded, “I’m in the KKK now.”
“Of course you are,” Myers teased before being questioned about his children. “My kids? My kids are safe,” the actor answered anxiously.
West later brought up the Sean “Diddy” Combs trial, noting, “You think you know a guy; he turns out to be a full crazy monster.” This led to Myers asking, “Well, what happened to you?”
This shade was in reference to Ye referring to himself as a Nazi.
Just as West asked for a selfie, the elevator broke down. He described himself as having “a few phobics myself” and even teased a new single, “Squeezin’ On My Grandpa’s Booty” before sending Myers on his way, saying, “[Take care of yourself], Shrek!”
In real life, the problematic rapper has a storied history with SNL after having both ranted about and praised the show while appearing as a musical guest.
