Of course, Soulja Boy wasn’t gon’ stay quiet on Plies‘ lawsuit.
After catching wind of Plies dismissing his suit claiming that Soulja, along with other artists, bit his song “Me & My Goons,” the YouTuber took to social media to clown the Florida-based rapper on Monday (March 17). “Just like I thought sit yo lil broke a** down ni**a. This my sh*t dummy,” Soulja typed on Instagram.
Billboard reported that Plies filed a motion to dismiss his copyright lawsuit against Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, and Cardi B for their song “Wanna Be.” Legal documentation states that Plies dropped the case “without prejudice,” which signifies he could opt to refile his suit if he changes his mind.
Plies originally sued the four artists in November 2024, claiming that they all illegally used what the rapper described as the “infrared countdown beat.” Much like now, Soulja Boy was the only artist listed in the lawsuit that responded, and of course, he responded with vitriol. The “Turn My Swag On” rapper even claimed that Plies was broke and looking for attention.
“‘Pretty Boy Swag’ is not your [beat],” Soulja asserted in a video in November 2024. “So you wanna wait 10 years to try to sue a ni**a for a beat? That is not your beat, crazy man… What the f**k is wrong with you, Plies? You need to change your name to ‘Lies,’ ’cause you a muthaf**kin’ liar… You know that ain’t your muthaf**kin’ beat, bro,” he added.
“That beat is all original music. You only could sue somebody if they sample your song and don’t get it cleared. That is not a sample, bro… [The songs] don’t sound nothing alike… That’s some police sh*t. You trying to sue a ni**a? I thought you was gangsta. I thought you was a goon… You gonna go snitch to the white man: ‘He stole my beat!’ Police-a** ni**a, you a snitch,” he went on in the unhinged rant.
Plies hasn’t said a word about his decision to dismiss the lawsuit across his social media accounts. Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi, and Glo haven’t responded to the move either.
