Live Amp hosts – where are they now?

Ever wondered what happened to your faves?

As we usher in a new era of Live, we take a retrospective look at where the first faces of the show ended up after putting in work to bring fans what they called “the hottest music show in the country.”

Live![tooltip id=”4500c2f113202943ff1ae30d00c9d4ac”] [/tooltip](now known as Live AMP!) is an SABC 1 music show that began in 2007 and was initially hosted by Bonang Matheba and Andile Ncube. The 30-minute show aired every Friday evening with the aim of letting people know what’s hot in the worlds of music and entertainment in addition to providing local talent with a stage to show off their craft and getting South Africa in the mood for the weekend ahead.

Although they rebranded in 2010, prior to 2007, the show was known as One – show hosted by Andile Ncube who was kept on board for Live but was given a female co-host in the form of Bonang. Following their 2010 talent search and subsequent rebrand, Minnie Dlamini and Sizwe Dhlomo joined the show to replace Ncube and co-host alongside Bonang.

Bonang then left the show in 2012 and passed the baton to Loot Love. The likes of Pearl Thusi, DJ Warras and Lerato Kganyago have come and left since then but where are they now…?

Andile Ncube

Ncube mostly MC’s live events but also does a bit of television and radio work.

Bonang Matheba

Mo’Ghel is hands down the most successful of the bunch having launched a book, an app, a website, a range of slogan t-shirts, a reality show and more in the 5 years since she left the show. She has also scored numerous hosting gigs, presented a number of shows and survived her fair share of scandal in that time.

Dlamini chased the sports presenter dream after leaving live and is currently one of SA’s main correspondents for the FIFA World Cup taking place in Russia.

Sizwe Dhlomo

Dhlomo left the limelight for a life behind the scenes and currently focuses more on his entrepreneurial pursuits.

Loot Love

Loot currently hosts Metro FM’s Absolute Hip Hop alongside new Live AMP! presenter DJ Speedsta. She also does a lot of presenting work for MTV Base in addition to MC’ing live events. She also recently bagged a deal as one of Revlon’s fresh new faces.

DJ Warras

No word about what is next for the 5fm DJ and Man Cave SA host but best believe, we’ll be the first to let you know when the news is available.

Pearl Thusi

Thusi currently hops the globe, hosting a number of live music events and NBA Africa events and her season as host of MTV Base’s ‘Behind The Story’ is currently airing every weekday while raking in impressive viewership numbers.

Lerato Kganyago

It is no secret that Kganyago left Live AMP to pursue her gig as host of Ndalo Media’s ‘Project Runway’ but whether or not this was a good move remains to be seen as it is still early days for the show. She also co-hosts the Metro FM show,[tooltip id=”4500c2f113202943ff1ae30d00c9d4ac”] [/tooltip]‘The Bridge’ alongside Dineo Ranaka[tooltip type=”box” html=”Input Your Content Here” box_background_color=”#eeeeee” box_opacity=”0.95″ box_padding=”10″ box_border_color=”#3F3F3F” box_border_width=”1″ box_border_radius=”0″ id=”4500c2f113202943ff1ae30d00c9d4ac” /]
